South Africa is filled with untold stories of entrepreneurs, small bussinesses and change-makers who hustle everyday. Repholositswe “Repro” Mpitsa and StoryGround started Amaphanda Asekasi / Township Hustlers, as a support platform, where these stories will live, grow and be shared.

Mfundo Mbali has been the heart and soul of most live shows in Townships across Cape Town. He is known for his motivational style of hosting, keeping the crowd entertained and an ability to connect with everyone involved.
Sinethemba Mgwetana was originally a professional soccer player as part of the Ubuntu Academy. When the first lockdown came into effect football stadiums were closed and Sinethemba saw his dream as a soccer player disappear.
Amaphanda AseKasi, born during level 3 of the national lockdown, builds storytelling and digital marketing campaigns for startup entrepreneurs, small businesses, organisations and change-makers in South African Townships.
During lockdown a lot of people lost their jobs and needed to find different ways to make an income. Repholositswe “Repro” Mpitsa, a filmmaker at StoryGround, noticed that a lot of people were creating their own small businesses within his community, Mfuleni. He felt that most of these unique businesses were not given any platforms for promotion, so he embarked on a journey to seek out local, inspiring entrepreneurs and started telling their stories through documentary film, and so, creating a powerful promotional tool for them.
Amaphanda AseKasi aims to tell the stories of startup entrepreneurs, local hustlers, to inspire communities to start their own businesses. Businesses that will hopefuly create job opportunities in their community, and decrease the rate of unemployment. By using the science of storytelling, documentary filmmaking, photography and the power of social media, we’ll build strong digital marketing campaigns. These campaigns will allow the hustlers to share their stories, potentially branch out to other communities, and build businessess that is sustainable for years to come.
We want to continue to tell stories that inspire others with the message that, when we work together, we can change our community. We want to continue to highlight individuals and businesses that are making change. We want to continue to tell stories that matter.
